A few years ago if you would have asked a person about an “electronic book” they wouldn’t have been able to picture what you were talking about, but things have changed. Today we have Nooks, iPads and Kindles, giving reading a whole new style. These electronics are properly named “e-books,” meaning they use a wireless connectivity that lets the reader shop and download e-books, newspapers, magazines, blogs and any other digital media. I am a proud owner of a Kindle and I love it!! It is easy to manage and function, gives you any book you can imagine to read (some are free but others cost a small fee), it easy on the eyes with a no-glare screen and makes reading a new experience. Here at DCS we have been so blessed to have money given to us to help the school purchase Kindles for the English classes so each student has a Kindle they can use during their class. The idea was brought to the school by Mrs. Fudge, the high school English teacher, who wanted her students to be able to access any novel or books they wanted to read. At this year’s Dinner Auction bidders were given the choice to bid for a Kindle that would be donated to the school. This action gifted the school eighteen new Kindles! Thank you to everyone who is helping supply the school, you are being a huge blessing to us!
